One week out of college (2009), I started my internship as an associate producer and editor. It wasn’t until I started working in the field that I realized my passion was in the production process and being onset. There was something magical about bringing a crew together with the right equipment to create content that I instantly fell in love with. I  fell in love with operating cameras and using all the gear needed to execute the shot list. This passion led me to gimbals which I dove into head first. My favorite challenge is hearing a director's vision, then coming up with a way to pull it off with the resources we have. I’m an artist that loves gear and technology.

Along with my expertise in cinematography, I also produce several projects a year. Traveling around the country for over 10 years as a DP has allowed me to build up a solid network to help complete any job. Although a DP/producer can sound like an odd combination, I have found that the communication and leadership skills I’ve gained as a DP along with my set knowledge of every role onset makes me a very efficient and fair producer. My favorite complement is from crew members I respect telling me how much they enjoy working on my projects.

My best work has always come from the projects where there is fluid collaboration between all departments. Getting the entire team on board for one common visual and goal is the secret to success. I take pride in being a leader onset and keeping the crew moving towards the creative vision of the project. This skillset has gotten me hired to produce documentaries, commercials, and photography campaigns. As much as I love being behind the camera, these opportunities allow me to better understand client needs and how to navigate their challenges.

The Personal:

When not onset, you will find me building camera rigs, perfecting espresso, and spending time in the outdoors. I regularly speak at art schools, colleges, trade shows, etc to continue my growth as a cinematographer and give back to those in the field.
